Fall is in full swing here at Blue Collar Doghouse and we hope you’re enjoying these crisp and clear Autumn days!
A few announcements and important reminders:
Upcoming Holiday Changes Thursday, November 25nd – Closed Friday, November 26th - Closed Saturday, November 27th - Closed Friday, December 24th - ClosedSaturday, December 25th - Closed
Collars in Daycare Dogs are required to wear a flat quick-release collar to attend daycare for safety purposes. These collars snap open and closed and are much easier to remove in an emergency. We’ve been seeing a lot of dogs coming in wearing no collar, loop through style or martingale collars, which are all unsafe to wear out in the pack. If you do not have a quick-release collar, you may purchase one here or elsewhere. If your dog walks more politely in a harness, please bring him inside with his harness on along with a regular collar. You may then keep the harness and leash with you, or leave them in a black bin located by the front door for when you return.
Mid-Day lunches Please remember that very few dogs require more than two meals per day. We are happy to provide lunchtime for very young puppies under 6 months of age who need a mid-day meal to support their growing bodies, and for dogs whose veterinarians prescribe a mid-day meal (dogs on certain medications or who have metabolic, gastric, or intestinal conditions, or are elderly and need continuous calorie intake). Many on our lunch list don't need a meal and are reluctant to eat. Lunches also remove your dog from the pack for about 45 minutes to prevent bloat and vomiting during play, and many of the dogs are anxious to get right back out to the action. If you’d still like us to feed your dog lunch and they do not meet the above requirements, there will be a $5.00 additional charge each time (effective December 1st, 2018). Though this has not been regularly implemented since the effective date, this will go into effect and implementation January 1st 2022.
Afternoon Snacks As many of you know, we offer a mid-day snack for $2. This is a homemade treat that differs month to month. Some examples are peanut butter pumpkin freezes, turkey meatballs, jerky, ect. We have a few dogs that get daily snacks. These dogs are separated from the pack for some one on one time with the staff, and to get their cookie of course! Many dogs look forward to this and while we have thought about doing away with these, have decided to continue for fear of major pouting from the pups. If you are interested in signing your dog up for a daily snack, or just a one time snack, please mention at time of drop off to our lovely front desk staff!
Dog-Dog Greetings in the Lobby and Leash Rules Our lobby can be a very congested place and not every dog you will encounter in the lobby is friendly. Please look through the door before you and your dog come barging into the face of potential disaster. Your dog must always be leashed, and you must always be holding that leash. (If you use a retractable leash, please lock it into the shortest length possible.) For the safety of everyone, you should not allow your dog to greet other dogs in the lobby. Help us provide safety and separation by not lingering with your dog inside the lobby for any longer than necessary.
No-Pee Zone! Please help us keep our entryway clean and smelling fresh by not allowing your dog to pee on the planters, wall, or curbside by our business entrance. Not only does dog urine have a very unpleasant smell, but it also creates congestion at the doorway when other dogs stop to sniff the pee-mail.
2022 Daycare Price Increase Notice To keep up with rising operating costs and to stay competitive, our daycare prices will be increasing effective January 1st, 2022. We know that nobody likes higher prices, and this is our first overall increase since the dreaded 2019. Our new prices are neither the highest nor the lowest based on a survey of our closest competitors; we try to stay in the middle of the pack.
Cold Weather and Rain - New Self-Wash Options! As many of you know, the fall and winter seasons here in Edmonds can get wet and chilly. Please consider bringing your dog a coat if they have short or fine fur. We understand that having our indoor/outdoor facility can result in a dirty pup! We have decided to start a special self-wash membership for our daycare clients. Though you can continue to use self-wash at a discounted price of $10 per wash, we have decided to create a $15 monthly unlimited membership for our frequent daycare customers. More information to follow as we get closer to the beginning of the year, when the membership will go into place!
When to Stay Home from Daycare Is your dog coughing, vomiting, or do they have runny poo? Please click the link below for a handy chart about symptoms that mean it’s best to skip daycare that day. We suggest printing out a copy to keep for reference at home. We really appreciate when customers are aware when their dog needs to stay out of the pack to prevent outbreaks of kennel cough and other transmittable illnesses. Thank you for your help with this! Please use the form provided here as a general guide: When to stay home from daycare
Thank you for your trust and loyalty, Blue Collar Doghouse Team
